FAQs
1. What are algebra videos?
Algebra videos are web based audiovisual lessons that teach students the fundamentals of algebra. During the videos the instructor defines terms, properties, and rules and uses simple, comprehensive teaching methods to demonstrate the application of these through step-by-step examples.
2. What topics are covered in the algebra videos? How long are the videos?
The algebra videos are divided into seven modules. Each module contains four to six videos covering common topics taught in an introductory algebra course:
- Module 1 – Review of the Basics (14.45 minutes) This module consists of four videos that cover the rules for addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Module 2 – Real Numbers (32.04 minutes) This module consists of five videos that cover real numbers, opposites, absolute values, properties of real numbers, exponents, and the order of operations.
- Module 3 – Algebraic Expressions (24.37 minutes) This module consists of five videos that include evaluating algebraic expressions, combining like terms, applying the distributive property, and simplifying algebraic expressions.
- Module 4 – Linear Equations (31.27 minutes) This module consists of five videos that cover the basics of solving linear equations, properties of equality, and solving one-, two-, three-, four-, and five-step linear equations.
- Module 5 – Polynomials (35.29 minutes) This module consists of six videos that cover the definition of polynomials, the degree of polynomials, and adding, subtracting, and multiplying polynomials including special products.
- Module 6 – Exponents (30.31 minutes) This module consists of six videos that cover the rules for exponents. This includes the product rule, the quotient rule, the negative exponent rule, the power rule, the power rule for multiplication, and the power rule for division.
- Module 7 – Factoring (39.53 minutes) This module consists of four videos that cover factoring the greatest common factor, factoring by grouping, and factoring trinomials.
3. Are worksheets available?
Yes. One of the most critical keys to learning algebra is practice, practice, and MORE practice. Therefore, students can access over 1,000 practice exercises and test problems to apply the information learned during the lessons on their own. Students can also check their work by comparing them to answer keys with step-by-step solutions.
Printable worksheets and answer keys are available for each video model. Each module contains four to six videos, where each video includes three practice worksheets and three solution sheets. In addition, each module includes a test and answer sheet.
4. How long and what is the subscription price for the algebra videos?
Students have unlimited access to the videos, worksheets, and solutions during the 30-day subscription period for the price of $34.99.
5. What is the best method for studying algebra using these videos?
Students should watch and study the lessons within each video module and complete the corresponding practice worksheets in sequential order. This is very important because we introduce terms, rules, and concepts in each lesson and build upon them in future lessons assuming students comprehend past lessons.
Only after students feel they understand the subject matter in the video module, should they proceed to complete the ‘Test Your Knowledge’ worksheet for that particular video module. If students do not perform well on the test, we recommend that they study the specific challenging lessons in the videos again and redo the practice exercises until their scores improve to acceptable levels.
Since the majority of the lessons in the first three video modules (i.e., review of the basics, real numbers, and algebraic expressions) are building blocks for solving more difficult problems in subsequent video modules, we highly recommend that students complete the first three video modules in chronological order and master that material before attempting to learn topics in any other video module.
6. Can I contact someone to get help with a math problem?
We currently do not offer services to answer or help students solve specific math problems. Our video tutorials are designed for students to watch, practice, and learn algebra on their own.
